Lumen Cascade Gem Puzzle | Chain clears for bigger scores

Stack falling gem pairs on a board 6 cells wide and 12 tall, and link 4 or more of one color to clear them. When the gems that fall afterward line up again, you get a cascade and the score multiplier climbs.

    💡 About this tool

Falling puzzles are easy to start, but big scores come from planning what clears next. The multiplier changes a lot from one clear to the next, so the choice between clearing now and stacking for a chain shows up directly in your score.

    • Every color has its own shape: pink diamond, cyan circle, mint triangle, yellow square, prism star. If two colors look alike to you, go by the shape
    • A landing guide shows a faint outline where the gems will fall. You can turn it off in Settings
    • Play with the keyboard on a computer, or with the on-screen touch buttons on a phone

Each clear scores "gems cleared × 10 × cascade multiplier × bonus".

    Cascade 1 2 3 4 5 6+
    Multiplier ×1 ×3 ×6 ×10 ×15 n × (n + 1) ÷ 2

The bonus adds 0.5 for each extra color in a single clear, and 0.2 for each gem beyond 4 in a group.

    🧐 Frequently Asked Questions

    Q. What are the keys? A. ← → move, ↓ drops faster, Z and X (or ↑) rotate, Space drops at once, C uses the Flare, and P or Esc pauses. Dropping with ↓ earns 1 point per cell, and Space earns 2. In fullscreen, Esc closes the fullscreen panel and pauses a game in progress.

    Q. What is a Prism? A. A rainbow star that sometimes appears in a pair. It counts as any color, but 4 Prisms alone do not clear.

    Q. When can I use the Flare? A. Clearing gems fills the meter, which is full at 40 gems. When it is full, the Flare clears every gem matching the ringed gem of your current pair. If the ringed gem is a Prism, or that color is not on the board, it clears the most common color instead. Flare clears score at ×1.

    Q. How does the game end? A. The game ends when the gate is blocked. The gate is the cell marked × in the second visible row, where new pairs appear, so keep that column from stacking too high.

    Q. What changes when the level goes up? A. The level rises every 30 gems cleared, and gems fall faster each time. The highest level is 20.

    Q. Can I continue later? A. Yes. If you pause or close the page, "Continue" brings the game back next time. If you close it while gems are clearing, you return to just before that pair landed. Your best score and last 10 games also stay in this browser until you clear its site data.

    Q. What is a Zero Board? A. An empty board at the end of a cascade. It is worth a 3,000-point bonus.

    📚 Fun Facts

The game finds groups with a flood fill: it starts at one gem, pushes matching neighbors onto a stack, and keeps going until the stack is empty. A Prism joins every color's search, which is why a group needs at least one normal gem to clear. It is a small check that runs on a board of only 72 visible cells.

The feel of the controls comes from a few short timers. Holding left or right waits 150 ms, then repeats every 48 ms. A landed pair stays movable for 500 ms, and moving it can restart that wait up to 12 times. Those are the numbers to look at if you ever tune a falling puzzle of your own.
