Neon Cadence Rhythm Game

Tiles fall down four lanes and you hit them on the beat. There are 3 songs with 3 levels each, so 9 charts in all. The browser builds each song from its own notes, and the tiles follow those notes. A chart is the same every time, so practice pays off in your score.

💡 About This Tool

Here is the speed and length of each song. Levels run from Lv 3 to Lv 12, and the charts hold between 109 and 379 tiles.

Song BPM Length
Neon Stroll 104 1:18
Circuit Rain 128 1:19
Comet Overdrive 160 1:15

Your judgment depends on the gap between your hit and the tile. Long tiles are judged twice, when you press and when you let go.

Judgment Gap Points
FLASH ±40 ms 100%
GLOW ±80 ms 70%
DIM ±125 ms 30%

Past 125 ms it is a MISS. FLASH restores 0.8 power and GLOW restores 0.4. A MISS costs 5 on Easy, 7 on Normal and 9 on Hard. At 0 the song fails.

The top score is 1,000,000: 900,000 for accuracy and 100,000 for your best combo. Ranks start at 980,000 for S+, 950,000 for S, 900,000 for A, 800,000 for B and 700,000 for C. Finishing without a MISS earns NO DROP, and all FLASH earns ALL FLASH.

Headphones and screens can deliver sound or pictures slightly late. In the Timing tab, tap 16 times along with a sound or a light, and the game measures the gap and lets you apply it.

🧐 FAQ

Q. Does it work on a phone? Yes. Tap the lanes with your finger. For a long tile, keep your finger down and lift it at the end of the bar.

Q. It keeps saying LATE. What can I do? Try "Follow the sound" in the Timing tab. Bluetooth headphones are a common cause of a larger gap.

Q. Can I change the keys? Yes. Under Key setup in Settings, press a lane's button and then the key you want.

Q. What happens if I scroll away during a song? The game pauses by itself when it leaves the screen. When you resume, it counts to 3 and carries on.

Q. Can I move my records to another browser? Yes. Make a save code in the Records tab, then paste it into Load code in the other browser.

📚 Fun Facts

Most people hit before the beat

Ask people to tap along to a steady click and most will land slightly ahead of it, usually by tens of milliseconds. Researchers call this negative mean asynchrony. Bruno Repp's 2005 review of tapping studies made it a standard reference point. The cause is still debated, and it shows up mainly when the beat is very regular.

That habit is small, but so is the FLASH window here, at 40 ms either way. The sound test in the Timing tab averages your own taps, so it counts your habit along with any headphone delay.
